Council Structure and Responsibilities

SENA is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) in England & Wales [Charity No. 1198001].

SENA is administered by a Council of Trustees, consisting of a President, Honorary Treasurer and Honorary Secretary.

The Honorary Secretary liaises with a named Representative from each of the Neuroscience Centres. Local Representatives are elected by each Neuroscience Centre at their discretion. Newly nominated Representatives are confirmed at each Representatives Meeting.

President and President-elect

The President is elected by SENA Representatives. Nominations for President can only be made by the local Representatives, but participating Neuroscience Centres can propose any Member of SENA for the post of President via their Representative.

The President will serve for a term of three years, which can be renewed with the approval of SENA Council a maximum of two times before a minimum "rest" period of one year is required before further re-appointment.

The President-elect is elected by SENA Representatives. Nominations for President-elect can only be made by the Representatives but participating Neuroscience Centres can propose any appropriate clinician for the post of President-elect via their Representative.

The President-elect is nominated and confirmed at the Annual General meeting and immediately succeeds the President on demission.

Honorary Treasurer

The Treasurer is elected by SENA Representatives. Nominations for Treasurer can only be made by the local Representatives but participating Neuroscience Centres can propose any appropriate clinician for the post of Treasurer via their Representative.

Each Neuroscience Centre nominates one or two SENA Representatives from its local Members.

The Representative can serve for a maximum of seven years. Once a Representative demits they must arrange a replacement by discussion with the participating Neuroscience Centre.
